Graceful, airy and rich in handwork, this Ivory and Teal Blue Gulbahar saree is a hand embroidered Chanderi silk-cotton saree with a soft ivory body covered in teal blue hand-embroidered motifs, finished with a bold embroidered border and pallu. Chanderi silk-cotton is light and gently lustrous, so the saree drapes beautifully and stays comfortable through long festive days. The cool teal blue on ivory gives it a calm, elegant look, made for women who prefer handcrafted detail over heavy zari.
About the Gulbahar collection
Gulbahar means "spring of flowers". It is Silk Ethnics' collection of hand embroidered Chanderi silk-cotton sarees, where every motif is hand embroidered on a light, ivory Chanderi base. The result is a saree that feels festive and special, yet light enough to wear all day.
Where to wear this Chanderi saree
Wear it for Diwali, Navratri and Durga Puja, temple visits, pooja at home, family celebrations and daytime wedding functions like haldi, mehendi and engagement ceremonies. Its soothing ivory and teal blue palette also makes it a lovely festive gift for a mother, sister or friend.
How to style it
Festive and traditional: pair it with a peacock blue or bottle green blouse, gold-toned temple jhumkas, bangles and a gajra.
Soft and elegant: choose a navy blue blouse with layered pearls and pearl studs for a graceful pooja or family-gathering look.
Boho: wear an ivory or indigo blouse with oxidised silver earrings, a macramé potli bag and kolhapuris for a relaxed festive day out.
Each piece is a work of art which uniquely displays the craftsperson's skill. The beauty of handcrafted fabric is that no two pieces look exactly alike, and minute flaws are very common. The imperfections can be anything from an uneven yarn to a slight variation in the embroidery. The beauty of an original handcrafted saree lies in its imperfections.
Pls note that there may be a mild colour variation in the saree due to colour reproduction in camera and screen.
Frequently asked questions
What makes the Gulbahar collection unique? Gulbahar brings together two crafts in one saree: the light, gently lustrous Chanderi silk-cotton weave and detailed hand embroidery. Every motif is hand embroidered, so no two Gulbahar sarees are exactly alike. Instead of heavy zari, the richness comes from the handwork itself, giving you a festive saree that stays light and comfortable all day.
What is this saree made of? This Ivory and Teal Blue Gulbahar saree is made of Chanderi silk-cotton, with teal blue hand embroidery and an embroidered border and pallu. The blouse is attached, and the total length is 6.3 to 6.5m (5.5m saree and 80cm blouse).
Is Chanderi silk-cotton the same as pure silk? No. Chanderi silk-cotton is a blend of silk and cotton. The silk adds a soft sheen and the cotton keeps it light and breathable, so it is easy to wear in warm weather.
Is this saree suitable for temple visits and pooja at home? Yes. The ivory body with teal blue handwork looks graceful and traditional, making it ideal for temple visits, pooja at home, Navratri and Diwali.
Can I wear this hand embroidered Chanderi saree to a wedding? Yes, especially for daytime functions such as haldi, mehendi, engagement and pooja ceremonies, or as a wedding guest who wants an elegant, light saree instead of heavy silk.
Is it a good saree to gift? Yes. The calm ivory and teal blue palette and the detailed hand embroidery make it a thoughtful festive gift for a mother, sister, friend or teacher.
How can I style an ivory and teal blue saree? For a festive look, wear a peacock blue or bottle green blouse with gold-toned temple jhumkas. For an elegant look, choose a navy blouse with layered pearls. For a boho look, try an indigo blouse with oxidised silver jewellery and a macramé potli.
Is Chanderi silk-cotton comfortable to wear all day? Yes. It is light, airy and breathable, so it stays comfortable through long festive days, family gatherings and celebrations.
Is the blouse piece included? Yes, an 80cm blouse piece is attached to the saree.
How do I care for this hand embroidered saree? Dry clean only, including the first wash. Iron on low heat on the reverse side, avoiding direct heat on the embroidery. Keep perfume and deodorant away from the fabric, and store it folded in a muslin or cotton cloth so the embroidery doesn't snag.

Care Instructions
Care Instructions
- Dry clean the first time; mild hand wash in cold water after that
- Never wring — press water out and hang over a rod
- Dry in shade, never direct sun
- Iron while slightly damp; linen takes a hot iron well
- Linen creases as you wear it. That's the fabric, not a fault
- Before the first wash, soak 15 minutes in cold water with a handful of rock salt. This sets the colour
- Mild detergent only, cold water, no bleach, no machine
- Don't let soap sit on the fabric — rinse quickly
- Shade dry; light starch keeps the crispness
- Medium iron
- Dry clean only, always
- Blot stains immediately with a dry cloth. Never rub, never use water
- Store wrapped in muslin, never plastic — plastic blackens zari
- Refold along different lines every few months so creases don't set
- Iron on low, reverse side, with a cotton cloth in between
- Dry clean only
- The zari is delicate — avoid hooks, velcro and rough jewellery
- Store rolled or loosely folded in muslin
- Iron on the lowest setting with a cloth between, never directly on zari
- Natural dyes release colour in the first two or three washes. Wash separately in cold water
- Mild detergent, no soaking, no bleach
- Shade dry, reverse side out
- The colours soften and deepen over years. That's how natural dye is meant to age
- Dry clean only
- Iron on the reverse, never over the embroidery or painted areas
- Store flat in muslin so threads don't catch
