A geometric zigzag embroidered border frames the saree, and the pallu is richly worked with bands of dense indigo embroidery. Indigo on ivory has a timeless, earthy elegance, and the light Chanderi silk-cotton keeps it airy and graceful to wear all day. Made for women who love deep, classic colours with the charm of handwork.
About the Gulbahar collection
Gulbahar, meaning "spring of flowers", is Silk Ethnics' collection of hand embroidered Chanderi silk-cotton sarees. Each motif is hand embroidered on a light ivory Chanderi base, so the saree feels rich and special while staying soft and easy to drape.
Where to wear this ivory and indigo saree
Wear it for Diwali, Navratri and Durga Puja, temple visits, pooja at home, family celebrations and daytime wedding functions. Its understated indigo palette also makes it a graceful choice for office festive events, important meetings, conferences and school events for teachers. It is a thoughtful gift for a mother, sister, friend or teacher who loves classic handcrafted sarees.
How to style it
Festive and traditional: pair it with an indigo or deep blue blouse, oxidised silver temple jhumkas and silver bangles.
Soft and elegant: choose an ivory blouse with layered pearls and pearl studs for a refined pooja or office look.
Boho: wear a rust or mustard blouse with oxidised tribal jewellery, a macramé potli bag and kolhapuris for an earthy, artsy vibe.
Each piece is a work of art which uniquely displays the craftsperson's skill. The beauty of handcrafted fabric is that no two pieces look exactly alike, and minute flaws are very common. The imperfections can be anything from an uneven yarn to a slight variation in the embroidery. The beauty of an original handcrafted saree lies in its imperfections.
Pls note that there may be a mild colour variation in the saree due to colour reproduction in camera and screen.
Frequently asked questions
Why choose a saree from the Gulbahar collection? Gulbahar sarees combine the softness and gentle sheen of Chanderi silk-cotton with detailed hand embroidery. What is this saree made of? This Ivory and Indigo Gulbahar saree is made of Chanderi silk-cotton, with indigo hand embroidery on the body, a geometric zigzag embroidered border and a densely embroidered pallu. The blouse is attached, and the total length is 6.3 to 6.5m (5.5m saree and 80cm blouse).

Care Instructions
Care Instructions
- Dry clean the first time; mild hand wash in cold water after that
- Never wring — press water out and hang over a rod
- Dry in shade, never direct sun
- Iron while slightly damp; linen takes a hot iron well
- Linen creases as you wear it. That's the fabric, not a fault
- Before the first wash, soak 15 minutes in cold water with a handful of rock salt. This sets the colour
- Mild detergent only, cold water, no bleach, no machine
- Don't let soap sit on the fabric — rinse quickly
- Shade dry; light starch keeps the crispness
- Medium iron
- Dry clean only, always
- Blot stains immediately with a dry cloth. Never rub, never use water
- Store wrapped in muslin, never plastic — plastic blackens zari
- Refold along different lines every few months so creases don't set
- Iron on low, reverse side, with a cotton cloth in between
- Dry clean only
- The zari is delicate — avoid hooks, velcro and rough jewellery
- Store rolled or loosely folded in muslin
- Iron on the lowest setting with a cloth between, never directly on zari
- Natural dyes release colour in the first two or three washes. Wash separately in cold water
- Mild detergent, no soaking, no bleach
- Shade dry, reverse side out
- The colours soften and deepen over years. That's how natural dye is meant to age
- Dry clean only
- Iron on the reverse, never over the embroidery or painted areas
- Store flat in muslin so threads don't catch
