Product Description

Material : Katan tissue silk

Blouse : Blouse attached

Length of saree : 6.3 to 6.5m (5.5m saree and 80cm blouse)

Wash and care : Dry clean only

Dreamy, graceful and softly luminous, this Lavender Gold Zari Striped Katan Tissue saree has a lavender tissue body lined with fine woven gold zari stripes, finished with a pallu of broad gold zari bands that shimmer with every movement. The fabric is wonderfully soft and flowy, falling into fluid pleats and draping with ease, so it feels as light as it looks. Tissue has a natural glow: the lavender looks soft and pastel in daylight and takes on a richer mauve-gold sheen under festive lights. Made for women who love pastel elegance with a touch of festive shimmer.

Each piece is a work of art which uniquely displays the weaver's craftsmanship. The beauty of this quintessential fabric is that no two hand-loomed fabrics can be similar-looking. And pls note that getting minute flaws in fabric is very common. The imperfections in this perfect fabric can be anything from an uneven yarn to a faded print. The beauty of an original handloom saree lies in its imperfections.

Pls note that there may be a mild colour variation in the saree due to colour reproduction in camera and screen.

Frequently asked questions

What is this saree made of? It is made of katan tissue silk with a pastel lavender body, fine gold zari stripes and a pallu of broad gold zari bands. The total length is 6.3 to 6.5m (5.5m saree and 80cm blouse).

Which occasions is a lavender tissue saree good for? It suits Diwali, Navratri, Durga Puja, Karva Chauth, weddings, engagement and reception functions, baby showers, housewarmings and festive evenings. The pastel lavender and gold is a graceful gift too.

How can I style a lavender and gold tissue saree? For a festive look, wear a gold or deep purple blouse with gold temple jewellery or kundan and a gajra. For an elegant pastel look, try layered pearls with a silver or gold potli. For a boho look, add oxidised jhumkas and a macramé potli. Contrast blouses in wine, magenta or bottle green also make the zari stand out.

Is it comfortable to wear? Yes. The fabric is especially soft and flowy, falling into fluid pleats, so it feels as light as it looks.

What is katan tissue? Katan tissue combines the smooth, strong katan weave with tissue zari, so the saree has a fuller drape and a richer sheen than ordinary tissue while staying light to wear.

How should I get the blouse stitched? Tissue is a delicate fabric, so get the blouse stitched with a stretchable lycra fusing interlining. It supports the fabric and keeps the fit comfortable.

How do I care for it? Dry clean only. Iron on low heat with a thin cotton cloth placed over the saree, as tissue is sensitive to direct heat. Keep perfume and deodorant away from the zari, and store it folded in a muslin or cotton cloth, refolding it every few months so the folds don't set.

Care Instructions

Handloom sarees last decades when cared for gently. Few simple care tips for different fabrics.
Pure Linen / Linen Cotton
  • Dry clean the first time; mild hand wash in cold water after that
  • Never wring — press water out and hang over a rod
  • Dry in shade, never direct sun
  • Iron while slightly damp; linen takes a hot iron well
  • Linen creases as you wear it. That's the fabric, not a fault
Cotton / Mulcotton
  • Before the first wash, soak 15 minutes in cold water with a handful of rock salt. This sets the colour
  • Mild detergent only, cold water, no bleach, no machine
  • Don't let soap sit on the fabric — rinse quickly
  • Shade dry; light starch keeps the crispness
  • Medium iron
Silk / Silk Cotton
  • Dry clean only, always
  • Blot stains immediately with a dry cloth. Never rub, never use water
  • Store wrapped in muslin, never plastic — plastic blackens zari
  • Refold along different lines every few months so creases don't set
  • Iron on low, reverse side, with a cotton cloth in between
Tissue / Organza
  • Dry clean only
  • The zari is delicate — avoid hooks, velcro and rough jewellery
  • Store rolled or loosely folded in muslin
  • Iron on the lowest setting with a cloth between, never directly on zari
Hand Block Prints — Ajrakh, Kalamkari, Bagru & Dabu
  • Natural dyes release colour in the first two or three washes. Wash separately in cold water
  • Mild detergent, no soaking, no bleach
  • Shade dry, reverse side out
  • The colours soften and deepen over years. That's how natural dye is meant to age
Hand Embroidered / Hand Painted
  • Dry clean only
  • Iron on the reverse, never over the embroidery or painted areas
  • Store flat in muslin so threads don't catch
